Northwest San Antonio

The Northwest Side of San Antonio is brimming with diverse suburbs, neighborhoods and businesses that help boost the local economy and bring in new San Antonio home buyers every day.

Simply put, the Northwest Side of San Antonio is an incredibly active and prosperous hub, with major contributors in education, business and healthcare all rubbing elbows for the greater good of San Antonio residents. The University of Texas at San Antonio’s main campus, the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and the Northwest Campus of the University of the Incarnate Word, and Rosenberg School of Optometry are all proud to call Northwest Side home.

But what’s more is the wide array of corporations that house their headquarters in the Northwest Side of San Antonio. These economic epicenters are buoyed by vast retail, dining and entertainment options for San Antonio residents.

Businesses On the Northwest Side

Valero Energy Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, is headquartered in this nook of San Antonio. In addition, NuStar Energy, Security Service Federal Credit Union and Kinetic Concepts all have a major influence on the local economy and call Northwest SA home. Such an impressive big business climate garners massive interest in San Antonio real estate as more new hires to these companies relocate to the area and, in turn, support smaller, local businesses.

Retail and Entertainment

While much of the big business in Northwest San Antonio is isolated to the I-10 corridor, the La Cantera District features some of the more recreational amenities the area has to offer. Take, for example, The Shops at La Cantera, an upscale, open-air shopping center that features some of the biggest names in retail. Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Dillard’s and Nordstrom all have a notable presence here.

Go a bit further east and there’s The Rim, which boasts more than 2,000,000 square feet of retail, including an IMAX movie theater, Bass Pro Shops’ Outdoor World and the affluent neighborhood known as The Dominion, which is home to San Antonio Spurs legend David “The Admiral” Robinson.

The Northwest Side of San Antonio is also where the Camp Bullis Military Training Reservation sits. Used mostly as maneuvering grounds for combat units of the Air Force, Army and Marines, Camp Bullis is also a field training site for medical units stationed in Fort Sam Houston.

There truly is something for everyone in the Northwest Side of San Antonio, and this diverse area is one of many reasons why San Antonio is one of the most successful and prosperous urban centers in all of Texas.
